The mission of the Dickson County School District is for students to master state and national education standards and to achieve their "personal best" socially, physically and emotionally. The school system employs approximately 1,000 people and includes 14 schools: 8 elementary schools; 3 middle schools; 2 high schools and 1 alternative school.

Health Care
The Dickson area is well served when it comes to healthcare options. Horizon Medical Center serves Dickson, Hickman Houston, Humphreys, Stewart and Montgomery counties. The 158-bed community hospital offers medical/surgical care, obstetrics, gynecology, critical care and skilled nursing services, as well as 24-hour emergency services, MRI, cardiac catheterization and outpatient services and more. Dickson Medical Associates opened a new, 83,000-square-foot facility along Highway 46 in spring 2009.
